Part TWO
We went to the game and although our team won,
we still had to drive home to Austin with the losers. The final score was 34-27
with Marcus scoring 4 touchdowns and tallying 295 yards including a 91 yard scamper.
I don't think
the Westlake fans knew what hit them even though I know the players did.
We sat in the stands next to #82 Jake Wilker's parents. Westlake
was mounting a comeback with the help of the officiating crew and kicked an on-side kick. #82 had the "good hands" to cap
off the day and everyone on our side was happy.
The SA paper vs the Austin paper. The Austin writer got Wilker's name wrong and the SA writer got Marcus' statistics wrong... what else is
new? It even says on the SA Newspaper website for statistics that Marcus' longest run was 65 prior to today but
I saw him break off a 79 yarder early in the season and it never has been corrected. Everyone assumes it's a typographical
error but because it has never been corrected, the error becomes the rule, a misnomer.
People make mistakes... like the UT and A&M recruiters by not considering Marcus
and letting him escape to Tulsa, Oklahoma. People make mistakes and that's why Marcus is going to Tulsa when he ought
to be staying closer to home winning a Heisman and some national championships for UT. This really reminds me of how
the Houston Texans dissed Vince Young... We all know THAT was a mistake by the Texans.
Bad refs~There was also the instance when Reagan
scored and they gave the points to Westlake and it took the crowd to get the crew to change it back right. A bunch of
holding calls against Reagan and none until the last quarter against Westlake. It was such poor officiating regarding
Westlake that when they finally called a penalty the crowd started chanting "It's about time."
